Director of Technical Strategy

ISITE Design is seeking a senior technology leader to help shape the future of our growing interactive agency. The Director of Technical Strategy will define and oversee high-level technical strategy engagements for clients and evaluate new technologies. The Director of Technical Strategy will collaborate with the Director of Development and others to advance internal processes and technical delivery across all projects.

The ideal candidate will have deep interactive expertise and a broad base of technical experience across multiple platforms, third-party solutions and development methodologies. This is an important and highly visible position within ISITE Design. We’re looking for a candidate that wants to be a significant contributor to the agency’s continued growth and LOVES living on the leading edge.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the company in the selection of new technologies and assist on go-to-market plans for new agency services and solution offerings
  • Light up client presentations with an energetic personality and sharp technical acumen
  • Be the person who enters the room with client IT, leads the discussion and leaves with everyone nodding in agreement
  • Help organizations develop multi-year technical roadmaps
  • Perform varying depths of vendor evaluations for content management systems, marketing platforms, ecommerce and other third party applications
  • Scope new projects and assist with proposal development
  • Participate on client projects to help shape the architecture and direct the selection of technology
  • Articulate a technical strategy and vision equally well in both writing and conversation
  • Assist with development and programming efforts as needed
  • Mentor internal developers and architects
  • Directly manage ISITE Design’s Solution Architecture team
  • Assist business development activities by attending events and conferences

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be able to coordinate and participate in Research and Development of new development tools and third party solutions needed by our clients
  • Must work with other team members to develop client oriented solutions in a structured and organized manner

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

  • The candidate will manage the ISITE technical architecture team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8 to 10 years as a technical strategist, developer and/or architect developing websites or other online applications
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working with the Microsoft (.NET) platform
  • Direct HR management of resources desired
  • 7 years in the Internet or computer related industry leading the solution design for clients
  • Strong business and technical consulting skills including experience working with C-Level executives
  • Experience building distributed scalable enterprise-class applications
  • Experience with standard relational databases, including mySQL, MSSQL and Oracle
  • Experience with marketing technology including CRM, analytics, e-mail marketing, campaign management
  • Experience with open source frameworks and platforms
  • Experience with web services, APIs, third party application integration
  • Experience with source control and release management
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to business and marketing stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the typical IT configurations needed to support enterprise level websites
  • Significant experience with a variety of web-based content management systems strongly preferred
  • Agency Experience preferred
  • Four-year College degree (BS/BA)
  • Degree desired within a related field such as computer software engineering

Additional Skills & Abilities

  • Capabilities and limitations of various browsers and user operating systems as it applies to website development
  • Knowledge of common Internet application development and production software as well as development standards and conventions
  • Team oriented mentality
  • Understanding of the importance of delivering high-quality product while balancing the need for rapid delivery
  • Ability to learn and understand the strengths and weaknesses of new development tools, techniques and processes
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
